The Lake District has some 47 rivers and streams, and over 100 still waters that offer fishing opportunities amongst unparallel scenery throughout the area.
Whether you’re a seasoned fisherman, just fancy having a go, or want to learn more, Esthwaite Water is a great place to visit.
Esthwaite Water
Situated close to Hawkshead, Esthwaite Water is a 280-acre private water in the heart of the Lake District, and one of the largest stocked lakes in the North West of England. With a fishery at its northern end, it offers great fishing with some breathtaking scenery.
A site of Special Scientific Interest and also a RAMSAR Site due to its International Importance as a wetland, it has a large population of wild birds and in the summer months, you could be competing with the Ospreys that visit the lake.
A fishery just a couple of miles from Hawkshead offers the perfect place to go fishing, with some fantastic predator, trout and coarse fishing. Facilities include:

Learning to fish
If you fancy learning to fish, but can’t tell a spinner from a reel, then fishing lessons are available. Anyone can learn and it’s so easy to have a try. There is no need for any tackle or equipment. Children must be min age 10yrs. and accompanied by an adult.
